The laboratory for Biogeochemistry and Isotope Geochemistry at the Department for Environmental Geosciences of the University of Vienna immediately seeks applicants for a postdoctoral scholar in environmental ‘non-traditional’ stable isotope geochemistry. We are particularly interested to interpret stable isotope variations for the elucidation of environmental processes in close collaboration to our biogeochemistry group and the nano-geoscience group. Topics include (but are not limited to) trace metal pollution in the environment, plant uptake and microbial redox-transformation of pollutants and nutrients, biomineralization and weathering. The appointment (for 6 years) involves the development of research ideas and acquisition of funding, method development and teaching. Completion of a Ph.D. is required. Experiences in clean laboratory procedures and ICP-multicollector mass spectrometry are expected. The group has a clean laboratory and a Nu Plasma II MC-ICPMS as well as labs for experimental and analytical work on environmental chemistry and biogeochemistry. The position is open immediately.
The application of female candidates is strongly encouraged.
